Welcome to the penultimate day of #PLANUARY by the Untld Project ! Today is all about STRATEGY… and if you read yesterdays post (if you haven’t, why not click here to read it now), the (very basic) tips for simplifying your planning will help too!
STRATEGY
Strategy is all about streamlining the elements of your business and making them work for you. As Nerrisa said in her IGTV today (watch here), it is all about working smarter, not harder! Whether that is working strategically with product marketing, researching prior to development, or working more organically (like I do…) strategy has a place in every business, no matter how small, large, new or old.
An easy place to start identifying areas to focus on is with time blocking (we talked about this yesterday). This allows you to see the bare bones of what makes your business tick and you can start grouping tasks together, so that you can not only fully focus, but improve productivity and start to identify areas in your business where you may be repeating yourself (remember, work smarter, not harder).
STREAMLINE
Strategy isn’t just about productivity though, it has a place in every area of indie business life, from overarching business strategy right down to all the lovely little elements that incorporates, from marketing and production through to time management and taxes! So streamline those processes, think strategically about why you are doing what you are doing, where you are promoting yourself and how you can streamline those elements together so that you can focus on what is worth your time and what is truly helping you to develop your business in a way that is fun and enjoyable for you … what is the best use of your time (and sometimes that means blocking out whole says for creative development)!
MARKETING
For those of you that are thinking, who is she to waffle on about all this… well… in a previous life I used to work in Marketing, at an agency… on strategic campaigns and I can 100% confirm that it is SO much easier to think strategically for others… so time blocking is a nice easy way to start and before you know it, you will be one step closer to working smarter, not harder. … how are you going to use time blocking to group together similar tasks so that you can make a start and make the most of your precious time?
