SUSTAINABILITY

TEXTILES

Sustainability is at the core of the Hannah Heys Textiles brand, striving to be as conscious as possible during every stage of her production process. These essential practices are kept in mind during every step of the process, from initial design and product development to the meticulous sourcing of reclaimed yarns and packaging wherever possible.

My mantra is:

HIGH QUALITY, HIGH END, HANDMADE

Every piece of Textiles produced is an investment piece, designed to adorn your walls and floors for many years to come. With this in mind, I include aftercare advice to support you in keeping your Hannah Heys Textiles purchase looking as wonderful as the day it leaves my studio for as long as possible.

CERAMICS

Making sure that sustainability remains a part of the evolution of Hannah Heys Handcrafted is something that I continue to work on and develop as my offering evolves. With the addition of Ceramics to my collection, this provides new challenges along with opportunities to learn and research.

All my pieces are handmade by me, either using slab building techniques, at a community studio, or on my low wattage table top wheel. I recycle my Clay offcuts and 'accidents' wherever possible, and even try to recycle water as much as I can, to minimise my environmental impact.

Ultimately, anything that requires high firing to complete will have an environmental impact, so I ensure that I pack my kilns as tightly as possible, and that everything I make is an heirloom piece that can be treasured for years to come.

Sometimes things go wrong and pieces can split, crack or just not turn out as you had hoped, so I also keep all pieces that have a purpose for a seconds sale.
