SUSTAINABILITY
CERAMICS
The creation of ceramics is not without its environmental cost, this is something that I take in to consideration in every stage of creation of my pieces. The small scale of my production ensures that waste is minimal, clay is recycled in to slip or reclaim wherever possible and small scale firings assist with efficiency.
I use environmentally friendly packaging wherever possible, and each order will have the option to use recycled packaging and boxes to reduce waste wherever practical.
In addition, as a part of my environmental considerations, I am building my own studio using environmentally friendly materials where possible, with the aim to create an efficient long term studio.
Built by hand with help from family and friends, the construction includes the use of locally sourced straw clay blocks for the walls, clay plaster (with the clay sourced from the ground on site) for the internal walls, wood fibre board wall insulation, cork cladding for the external finish, reclaimed roof timbers, windows and doors... the list goes on.
‘Scheduled’ to be completed in early June, I cannot wait to start creating from this purpose built space.
TEXTILES
Sustainability is at the core of the Hannah Heys Textiles brand, striving to be as conscious as possible during every stage of her production process. These essential practices are kept in mind during every step of the process, from initial design and product development to the meticulous sourcing of reclaimed yarns and packaging wherever possible.
My mantra is:
HIGH QUALITY, HIGH END, HANDMADE
Every piece of Textiles produced is an investment piece, designed to adorn your walls and floors for many years to come. With this in mind, I include aftercare advice to support you in keeping your Hannah Heys Textiles purchase looking as wonderful as the day it leaves my studio for as long as possible.
